Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at the United Methodist Church, in Osceola, with Pastor Robert Perry officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
Dubas Funeral Home, of Osceola and Stromsburg, has been entrusted with arrangements.
Alta was born near Osceola on April 14, 1912, to Alfred and Melitta (Dake) Grossnicklaus. Following the death of Alta's mother, she and her father made their home with Alta's grandparents. Her father later married Mary Meyers.
Alta received her education at District 31 country school in the valley in Polk County and graduated from Osceola High School in 1930.
On April 16, 1933, Alta was united in marriage to Donal R. Wieseman at Ong. The couple lived on a farm near Shelby, later moving to their farm home north of Osceola, and in 1957, they retired to their home in Osceola.
Alta was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Osceola, where she served faithfully throughout her life.
She enjoyed music, playing bridge and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, daughter, JoAnn (Kenneth) Donelson, of Stromsburg, sons, Rex (Lorraine) Wieseman, and Larry (Karen) Wieseman, of Osceola; six grandchildren, Bradley (Lori) Johansen, of Omaha, Gregg Wieseman, of Grand Island, Keith Wieseman, of Silver Creek, Scott (Frances) Wieseman, of Osceola, Corey (Beatriz) Wieseman of Aurora, Ill., and Kevin (Jacqueline) Wieseman, of Osceola; two step-grandchildren, Anthony (Vicki) Mestl and Amber Kumpf; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda Johansen, of Omaha, Rachel and Austin Wieseman, of Osceola, Connor, Cole and Caden Wieseman, of Aurora, IL, Shayla, Alec and Rori Wieseman, of Osceola; and step-great-grandchildren, Baili Kumpf, Braxton and Kindley Mestl, of Osceola; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donal (Bud); her parents; sister, Norma; brother, Gilbert; step-mother, Mary Grossnicklaus; step-sister, Anna Mae Bradley and husband, Norman; son-in-law, Eugene (Jinx) Johansen and Betty (Gregg) Wieseman; and granddaughter-in-law, Betty.
