George Coble Byrne, 64, of Gassaway, died Friday at his home after a heart attack. Mr. Byrne operated a hardware store in Gassaway for 33 years. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Byrne was a member of Gassaway Masonic Lodge, the Knights Templar at Sutton and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Ben and John Byrne of Gassaway: one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mazza of North Kenova, OH; one brother, Norman Byrne of Bergoo; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Davidson of Gassaway: and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Sunday in Davis Memorial Church at Gassaway with the Revs. Louis McCord and Alonzo S Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Heaters Cemetery.
