Our Beautiful Mother, Chona Lee, has passed on to her next great adventure following a short illness on August 13, 2012 at the age of 79.
She was born Chona Lee Sorensen on June 16, 1933 in Sigurd, UT to Juanita and James Lyman Sorensen. She was raised on a farm in Glenwood, UT, providing her many fun stories to share with her family. Chona is the oldest of Juanita and Lyman's six children. She married her high school sweetheart, Wilford Ivo Hermansen, in February of 1952 in the Manti Temple. They settled in Salt Lake City, UT where they had five amazing boys. Her prime achievement has been the successful rearing of her five sons and the close association and love she has for each of them, their wives, her 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. As she raised her sons, Chona demonstrated her devout and non-waivering faith as she served many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chona and Wilford parted ways in 1975. She later met William (Bill) Heil whom she married in 1995. Bill passed on July 4, 2004. Chona's lovely spirit and beautiful smile brought joy and love to all who met her. Those whom she has left behind will sorely miss her.
Chona is preceded in death by her parents James Lyman and Juanita Sorensen, her brother Larry Sorensen, her half-brother Wendell Allen (Dona) and half-sister LuJuana Funk (Theron).
She is survived by her five sons, Brent (Denice), Bruce (Lisa), Randy (Cindy), Rick (Heather), and Michael (Lisa); her 20 grandchildren, Eric (Gayle), Brandon (Teanna), Bryan, Chad (Bracken), Shaun (Nicole), Alysha, Brittany Leavitt (Chad), Jordan, Megan, Stephanie Chugg (Skyler), Ricky, Jacob, Daniel, Joey, Isabella, Jason, Jaron, Jerika, Jaycee, Jess; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Dillon, Sabriyya, Esther, Tyllre, Callan, Tenley, Taytum, Presley, Emery, Brody, Peyton, Logan, Selma and Callen; brothers James Sorensen (Gloria), Steven Sorensen (Phyllis) and sisters Donetta Jorgensen (Dobby) and LarSena Christiansen (Lamont).
Funeral Services to be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 17, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Little Cottonwood 14th Ward, located at 1160 E. Vine St. Murray, UT, 84121.
