Swainsboro, ga- Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Richard Brown, age 76, of Swainsboro, GA on Sunday, August 12, 2012 .
Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 14th at 11 AM in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Dr. Bob Blankenship officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 to 7 PM.
Pallbearers are William Richard Brown, Russell Cody Brown, Russell Tyler Brown, Mike Gomez, Rusty Pritchard and Ricky Hooks.
Mr. Brown was born in Waycross, GA, was a 1954 honor graduate of Bayler High School and a 1958 honor graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and served in the US Army. He was owner and operator of The Sports Shop from 1961 to 1994. Mr. Brown was a member of the GA Sheriff's Association, the GA Farm Bureau, charter member of the Emanuel County Sportsman's Club and the Swainsboro Tiger Booster Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Randall and Kate New Brown, a son, Richard Ernest Brown and his wife, Loretta Fields Brown.
