James William "Billy" Stamey, age 65, of Jacks Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August, 13th, 2012 in Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Bill and Esther Pitman Stamey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Stamey and two sisters: Maxine Allen and Joann Burleson. He loved watching football and racing.
Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Geraldine Silvers Stamey; daughter, Tammy Stamey Burleson of Burnsville; sister, Linda Pitman of Marion; granddaughter, Victoria Burleson Woods and husband, Jeremy, of Asheville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Rick Bennett and Rev. Ray Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Jack Silvers Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
