OBITUARY.
Sarah Peoples was born December 30, 1830 and died January 13, 1901 aged 70 years, 1 week and 6 days. She was converted at the age of 15 and united with the Methodist Episcopal church.
On January 15, 1850 she was married to Nathanial Stafford. To them were born 11 children; 6 are living. He departed this life in Minnesota January 17, 1866, and Mrs. Stafford with her children moved to Kansas where she was united in marriage to Noah Miles. Mrs. Miles was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was noted for her loving kindness and words of good cheer to all. A host of relatives and friends gathered at the Washington church to pay their respect to the dead. Rev. Kerr, of Scandia, preached a very appropriate sermonfrom the text "She hath done what she could."

Sarah Ann was born to John and Mary "Polly" (Davis) Peoples in Harrison County OH and died at her home in Republic, KS. She married Nathan Stafford on 15 Jan 1850 and eleven children were born to this union. Two children were born near Steubenville Ohio and nine were born after the couple moved to farm near Valparaiso Indiana. In 1865 the family moved to near Hutchinson MN where the father Nathan contracted Typhoid Fever and died. He was buried in McLeod County MN at an unknown location. In early 1866 Sarah moved the family back to Indiana where they lived on a small farm. In 1872 the family decided to move in Kansas. Son William had gone to Kansas a year earlier to scout the land. Daughter Catherine had married and decided to stay in Indiana. The family settled on a farm in Washington Township of Republic County Kansas. 12-year old daughter Sarah died in 1878. With the sons growing up and leaving home Sarah remarried to Noah Miles on 12 Nov 1884. He passed away in 1892. Sarah's home hummed with grandchildren as all of her six sons stayed in the Republic County area. Sarah was buried at Washington Cemetery.

Robert 1857 - 1858 (died in IN)
Eliza Jane 1863 - 1864 (died in IN)
