Married to John M Brown, the couple lived much of their married lives as proud Cherokee on the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma where they were known as "pioneer residents" of Sallisaw. Here they raised their children, and Mary Ann chose to remain following the death of her husband who died twenty years earlier. She devoted her late years to the Nazarene Church.
