HOBSON EAST BEND - JoAnn Matthews Hobson Nov. 7, 1937 - January 21, 2012 Mrs. JoAnn Matthews Hobson 74, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Hobson was born November 7, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Baxter & Bernice Miller Matthews. Mrs. Hobson was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold Jackson Hobson; two sisters Grace Davis, Inez Brown; two brothers Denny Matthews, and Robert Matthews. Surviving are her children Penny Metzger, Chuck (Amy) Hobson, Sherre (Ralph) Betz, Ricky Hobson; six grandchildren Lauren (Ricky) Arnett, Nathan Parker, Lincoln (Laura) Hobson, Brandon Hobson, Landon Parker, and Austin Hobson; great-grandchildren Lylah Arnett, Amber Arnett, Dylan Arnett; a sister Nell Rae Hutchens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Friendship Baptist Church on Siloam Road by Rev. Brian Poindexter and Rev. Brian Chilton. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to friends and family and also Dr. Patricia Zekan and her staff for the loving care given to Mrs. Hobson.
