Lucy Ann Yearnshaw Cobb, widow of Edward K. Cobb, a former resident of this city, and a pioneer farmer in this county, passed away Thursday, April 9, 1942, in San Bernardino, California at the home of her son, Fred H. Cobb. She was born October 11, 1847, near Wyanet, in Bureau County, Illinois, was married September 29, 1869 in Wyanet, and moved to Fillmore County, Nebraska in 1873.
She came to Geneva from the farm in Hamilton Township in 1882, and lived here until after the death of her husband in 1908, when she removed to Minneapolis, Minn.
She finally settled in California, first at Redlands and then at San Bernardino. While here Mrs. Cobb was a member of the Congregational Church, but later transferred to the First Congregational Church of Redlands, California. She was a loyal supporter of that church and of the Redlands chapter of the P. E. O., of which she was a charter member. She was a member of Chapter O of Geneva before removing from her. The members of the chapter attended the funeral in a body.
Funeral services were held Saturday in San Bernardino, with a brief service here Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. at the Hrubesky Funeral Home.
The body was accompanied from California by two of her sons, Herbert E. Cobb and W. Roy Cobb and his wife, and was interred by the side of her husband in the Geneva Cemetery. Rev. Mr. Balzer of Crete officiated at the service here.
Mrs. Cobb leaves four sons and a daughter; Herbert E. of Beverly Hills, Cal., W. Roy and Fred H. of San Bernardino, Lewis G. of Brewton, Ala., and Edna (Mrs. J. Arthur Lothrop) of Crete, Neb.
Also surviving her are eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
