CQNCORDIA — Sister Mary Theresa Baalman, 83, Concordia, died Sunday, June 18, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia. Sister Theresa was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Angelus. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1936. She served in the congregation as a homemaker and cook and served in Silver City, N.M., Fairbury, Neb., and Grand Island, Neb., and on many of the parochial school missions in Kansas. Her last active mission was in Grand Island, where she retired in 1990. She returned to Nazareth Motherhouse where she lived until her death.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha Horinek of Atwood and Helena Bruggeman of Selden; and two brothers, Urban and Ralph, both of Grinnell.
A wake will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Alfred Wasinger officiating. Burial will be in the Nazareth Convent Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the care of the retired sisters or for the active works of the congregation. Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, 325 W. Sixth, Concordia 66901, is handling arrangements.
