Evert Harold Weber, 86, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born April 1, 1924, in Pocahontas, Mo., son of Gottfried and Lena Krannawetter Weber. He and Lillian Davis were married June 25, 1949, at Zion Parsonage in Pocahontas.

Evert was inducted into the U.S. Navy on April 19, 1945, and was honorably discharged Aug. 9, 1946. After his military service, he attended machinist school in St. Louis. He became a bricklayer by trade and worked for the Ruben Landgraff Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau, and other local masonry companies. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union Local No. 23 for more than 50 years, and was a former secretary and treasurer. After retiring, Evert served on the board of directors for Camp SEMO at Lake Wappello. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas since 1955, serving on various committees and leadership capacities within the church, and also the Althenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson for more than 60 years. He loved his family and Camp SEMO and enjoyed boating and water skiing.

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years; a son, Randy (Christine) Weber of Jackson; two daughters, Rhonda Starzinger of Jackson, Carolyn Ervin-Mobley of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, William Bogenpohl of Friedheim; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pocahontas with full military honors.
