Funeral services were held Saturday morning, June 14, 1941, in the St. Luke's Episcopal church at Saranac Lake, New York, for Mrs. William Stearns, 75, a native of Au Sable Forks, New York, who died Wednesday night, June 11, 1941, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Gould, of Tupper Lake, after a four weeks illness. Burial was in Pine Ridge cemetery at Saranac Lake.

Born Lillian M. Maple, at Au Sable Forks on January 28, 1866, she was married at Saranac Lake on June 14, 1896, to William Stearns. She had resided at Saranac for 50 years before making her home during her last two and a half years
at Tupper Lake with her daughter.

Survivors were one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Gould, Tupper Lake; three sons, Albert M. Stearns, Syracuse, New York, John J. Stearns, Manchester, New Hampshire, and Frank W. Stearns, Hempstead, Long Island; two brothers, Wallace Maple of Au Sable Forks and John Maple, Saranac Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Cutler, Pearl River; Mrs. James Williams, Au Sable Forks, and Mrs. Joseph LaMountain, Clintonville; also four grandchildren, Russell, Kay and Ruth Gould, Tupper Lake, and Mary Stearns, Hempstead, Long Island.
