Maymie Melson Akers, 82, of Hodgenville, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Green County and owned and operated the former Akers Fabric & Uniform Shop in Hodgenville. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Carl Akers; a son, James Carl Akers; her parents, Frank Porter and Etha Jane Collins Melson; three sisters, Valerie Morgan, Hallie Mae Wheat and Hattie Knight; and a brother, Oliver Melson. Survivors include three daughters, Betty (Wayne) Walters, Elsie (Frank) Misiak and Frances (Jerry) Miller, all of Elizabethtown; three sons, Bobby Ray Akers of Hodgenville, Kenneth Lee (Elizabeth) Akers of Mount Sherman and Billy Joe (Bonnie) Akers of Elizabethtown; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral is 1 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Darrell Hensley and the Rev. Jeff Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Buffalo.
