OBITUARY: From the LaRue County Herald News newspaper, Sep 2, 1998: Elva Warren Allen, 86, of Buffalo, died Sunday, Aug 30, 1998, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. She was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Buffalo and was a retired school teacher for the Fort Knox Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Allen; a sister, Dora Marie Warren; and a brother, Glenn Warren. Survivors include three sisters, Nellie Bennett and Maxine French of Hodgenville and Doneda Pepe of Arizonia; and two brothers, Floyd Warren of Hodgenville and Vernon Warren of Louisville. Several Nieces and nephews. The funeral is 1 p.m. today at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Roger Pepper officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home.

Elva and Harvey were double second cousins, once removed. Their common ancestry being Pleasant Poteet and Hyram Underwood. Elva was my school teacher at the Old New Clark School next to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church from my second grade to the eighth grade.
Elva died at age 86 in LaRue County, Kentucky where she resided and was born. Ky vital stats: Vol 053, DC #26186, death vol 1998.
