Paul E. Sanders, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Feb. 24, 2009, in Pahrump.

Paul and his wife, Mary, moved to Pahrump in December 1988 and planned this to be their last move along their journey on Earth until God called them to spend eternity with Him. Paul's journey on Earth has ended and he has begun a new journey in heaven where he will spend eternity with Jesus Christ.

Since moving to Pahrump, Paul worked 10 years as a bus driver for the Nye County School District.

He was a faithful witness to Jesus Christ most of his life, including his years in the U.S. Marines. Paul never failed to tell those who would listen -- and some who didn't want to hear -- about the love of God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Without a doubt, when he arrived at the gates of heaven, he was greeted with, "Well done thy good and faithful servant. Welcome home."

Paul and Mary were members of Pahrump Community Church for 20 years. Paul had a beautiful Irish tenor voice and loved to sing with the choir and he sang solo on a regular basis.

Paul is survived by numerous people including his loving wife of 25 years, Mary; his first wife and the mother of his children, Bonnie Blumenshein; sons Paul V. (Linda) Sanders and Bradley H. (Florin) Sanders; daughters Lorelei (Peter) Jungwirth and Marla J. Sanders; step-children J. Kristopher (Denise) Sherman, Edward A. Sherman, Sheri Lee Sherman, Gary G. (Stephanie) Sherman and Suzanne L. Sherman; mother-in-law Autumn Reynolds; brothers Herman (Joyce) Sanders, Fred Sanders and Carl (Janet) Sanders; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and a large number of family and friends. Paul never met a stranger, just friends he hadn't met yet.

He was preceded in death by parents Herman and Ferna Sanders and sister Ferna Marlow.

The family owes a huge debt of gratitude to Dr. Michael D. Reiner and the folks who work for Nathan Adelson Hospice for the wonderful care given to Paul during his time on hospice.

A memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be at 4 p.m. March 6 at Pahrump Community Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Paul's name to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the Pahrump Community Church Building fund. (02/24/2009)
