Steven C. Baran, a lifelong resident of the area passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY at the age of 40. Son of Stephen C. and Linda K. Chandler Baran, he was born April 14, 1972 in Cold Spring, NY. Steven was a mechanic with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, Bear Mountain, NY and a member of the Town of Highlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Survivors include his wife Catherine L. Thurston Baran of New Windsor, NY; his mother Linda K. Baran of Shawnee, OK; his father Stephen C. Baran and his wife Ruth of Kissee Mills, MO; his sisters: Tamberly A. Rafferty and her husband Martin of Plattekill, NY, Melissa C. Holsinger and her husband Torry of Havre, MT, Jennifer L. Martin and her husband Dustin of Billings, MT, his paternal grandmother Margaret Baran of Havre, MT; his uncle Bob Baran and his wife Gina of Deltona, FL; nieces, nephews and 1 great nephew.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday, August 9 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 10 followed by interment at the Cemetery of The Highlands, Route 32, Highland Mills, NY with Rev. Alex Lever officiating
