Marjorie Ruth "Shug" Swafford, 88, of Crossville, passed away Nov. 7, 2000, in Erlanger Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 9 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The Rev. Bratton Tucker officiated, with special music by the Pomona United Methodist Church choir.
Mrs. Swafford was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Cumberland County, the daughter of Justice H. Sr. and Isola Gamble Graham.
She was a homemaker, and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her son, Randy Swafford of Crossville; daughters, Polly Bryant of Greenville, SC, and Sue Satterlee of New Harbor, ME; brother, J.H. Graham Jr. of Crossville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, White Patton Swafford; two brothers, Paul Graham and Fancher Graham; and three sisters, Mamie Loveday, Marietta Putnam and Wilma Dunbar.
Pallbearers were Pete Graham, Bill Graham, Jack Putnam, George Putnam, Jerry Graham, Vance Graham, Tommy Calahan, Charles Loveday and J.H. Graham III.
Honorary pallbearers were Jo Swafford, Jim Swafford, Jerry Swafford and Dale Swallows.
