John F. Zabel, 61, retired shipyards foreman of 1029 north 16th street, died
this morning at the Holy Family Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Redeemer Lutheran church,
the Rev. Valentine Mack officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetary.
Mr. Zabel was born in 1887 in Manitowoc and was employed at the Manitowoc Ship
Building company for 30 years. When he retired in 1947 he was a foreman in the
joiner shop. He married Louise Herring in 1913
Survivors are the wife: two sons, Howard and Robert of Manitowoc; two sisters,
Emma Dahin of Green Bay and Mrs. William McKenzie of Milwaukee; and two grand-
children.
The body may be viewed at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home from 7 p.m. Sunday
until 10 a.m. Tuesday when it will be removed to the church to lie in state until
the time of services.
Mr. Zabel was a member of the Men's Club of the Redeemer church and the Lions Club.
