Germaine E. Woytal, age 87, a resident of Care Partners Group Home, died Monday
morning, July 22, 2002, at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, at The Pfeffer
Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski,
O.F.M. with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and Ella Handl
Thiers. Germaine was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1932. On
July 14, 1936, she married Felix R. Woytal at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
The couple owned and operated The Clover Farm Grocery Store in Manitowoc Rapids for
over 50 years. He preceded her in death Dec. 15, 1998.
Survivors include a brother: Nels Thiers; a niece: Diane Thiers; two great-nephews:
Tim (Joy) Thiers, Ted (Lisa) Thiers, all of Manitowoc; a great-great nephew: Tyler
Thiers; and a great-great-niece: Amanda Thiers. Also surviving is a very special
person in Germaine’s life, Mary Behnke. Other relatives and friends also survive.
She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law: LoEan Thiers and a nephew: Donald
Thiers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation
Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of service at 6:30 p.m.
Germaine enjoyed the many years she and Felix operated the grocery store in Manitowoc
Rapids and the special friendships that she developed.
