Gordon E. Wotruba, age 70, of 3602 MacArthur Dr., Manitowoc, died
unexpectedly Tuesday evening, April 6, 1999, at Holy Family Memorial
Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 1999, at St.
Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be Rev. Ronald Reimer, followed by Military Rites accorded
by Amvet Post #99. Burial to occur at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born November 18, 1928, at Cleveland, Wis., son of the late
Joseph and Clara Jost Wotruba. Gordon was a graduate of Manitowoc
Lincoln High School, class of 1947. From 1948-1949, he played
semi-professional basketball with the Manitowoc Braves. He was a veteran
of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict overseas in
Germany. On October 23, 1954, he married the former Mary Ann Anhalt at
Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Gordon was employed with the
Mirro Co. for 46 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Paul
Catholic Church, AMVETS Post #99 and was also the secretary of King-Full
bowling league for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Wotruba, Manitowoc; one son,
Charles Watruba, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Wayne
Neilson, Minnesota, Terri and Randy Broeckert, Manitowoc; two
granddaughters, Melissa and Stephanie Broeckert; a brother and
sister-in-law, Fritz and Eunice Wotruba, Manitowoc; two sisters and
brothers-in-law, Margaret and Elmer Duenkel, Mary Lou and Ron Ratajczak,
all of Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Bette Wotruba, Green Bay. Also
surviving are three brothers-in-law and three spouses, seven
sisters-in-law,and six spouses, along with nieces, nephews, other
relatives and neighbors who were aways there for us and friends (sic).
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald; a sister, Kathleen and a
brother-in-law, Gordon.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Paul Catholic Church
from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be
no Thursday evening visitation.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
