ARLETTE WIER

Mrs. Edward (Arlette) Wier, age 85, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, 2006, in a local nursing home.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1920, in Manitowoc to the late August and Lillian (Bishop) Krueger. Arlette married Edward John Wier on Aug. 18, 1945, in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1966. She and her husband owned and operated Eddie's Bar in Manitowoc until moving to Green Bay in 1951. In Green Bay, she was employed at Hansen's Dairy at the Willow Street (University Ave.) store and later as a bookkeeper. She was then employed at Van's Supply and Equipment and retired from Broadway Chevrolet. Following retirement, she worked for senior aides at various businesses throughout the area. Arlette was a member of the Odd Fellow Rebekah Lodge and a charter member of Atonement Lutheran Church. Arlette was a world traveler with her niece, Dolores, enjoying trips throughout Europe.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Linda, Green Bay; Michael and Roberta "Bobbie", De Pere; two granddaughters: Nicole Wier and Andrea (Tony) Tahlier, all of Chicago; and one sister-in-law: Betty Krueger, Iowa. She was preceded in death by one brother: Leroy Krueger, and one sister: Esther Wellner.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., Green Bay, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2132 Deckner Ave., until the time of service. Rebekah memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Ronald Harswick officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in Arlette's name.
