Marilyn Ann Houghton Whitton, age 72, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1931 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Alliette Wuellner Houghton and George Houghton. She moved to Hilton Head Island in August 1995 from Northbrook, Ill.
She was a registered nurse graduating from Evanston (Ill.) Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1994 after 21 years as secretary of Meadowbrook Elementary School in Northbrook, Ill. She performed many hours of volunteer work at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. Volunteers in Medicine and First Presbyterian Day School and was also an active member of Dolphin Head Golf Club.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Aldean Whitton; a daughter: Laura Faucher, Western Springs, Ill.; three sons; Scott Whitton, Fort Collins, Colo.; Mark Whitton, Chicago, Ill.; and John Whitton, Lake in the Hills, Ill.; and three grandchildren: Katelynn, Whitton, Fort Collins, Col.; Ryan and Matthew Faucher, Western Springs, Ill.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care of the Low country, 20 Palmetto Parkway, Suite 104, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 or the Katie Robertson Trust for Children, First Presbyterian Church Day School, 650 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
