Donald R. Vreeke, age 82, of 2421 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life
on Monday evening, Jan. 18, 2010, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc
where he had been residing the past several weeks.
Donald was born on Sept. 25, 1927, in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late
William and Sadie Horstmann Vreeke. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School
with the class of 1945. He entered the United States Air Force serving overseas
in Japan. After being honorably discharged in 1947 Donald returned to Manitowoc.
He was employed as a malter with Anheuser Busch in Manitowoc for 30 years retiring
in 1992. On Aug. 18, 1951, he married Gwendolyn Garry at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. Don was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and the American Legion
Drews Bleser Post No. 88. He was also a member of various local bowling and golf
leagues.

He was preceded in death by one daughter: Cheryl Reindl in 1995; 2 brothers:
Robert Vreeke in 1973, and Arthur Vreeke in 2008.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at Grace Ev.
Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Officiating will be the Rev.
Thomas Pankow with burial of the cremated remains to be at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday
from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that a memorial be directed to Manitowoc
Lutheran High School for student tuition.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets,
Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
