JOHN VRANEY
John W. Vraney, age 97, formerly a resident of Laurel Grove Assisted Living
and currently a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died
Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 2007, at Shady Lane.
John was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Manitowoc, a son of the late George and Anna
Havlinek Vraney. He attended Lincoln High School and worked for Wisconsin
Public Service for 43 years retiring in 1975. On Aug. 22, 1931, John was
married to the former Florence Kubel at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2005. John was a member
of First Lutheran Church of Manitowoc and a 50-year member of F.A. & M. Lodge
65 of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his two sons, one daughter, four grandchildren, six great-
grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was
preceded in death by one son-in-law: Bill Flint; one brother and sister-in-law:
Alvin (Geraldine) Vraney; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law: Leona
(Arvid) Asplund. (Survivors edited for privacy)
Private family funeral services were held at the Jens Family Funeral Home and
Crematory. The Rev. Steven Olson officiated with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
John's family would like to thank the staff at Laurel Grove Assisted Living and
Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, for their special care given to their father
and his family, especially this past week during his final days.
