ROBERT VOLLENDORF

Robert O. Vollendorf, 65, of 1609 N. 21st St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, May 21, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Plank will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Vollendorf was born July 10, 1917, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and Etta Zollwig Vollendorf. He was educated in the Manitowoc School System and was graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1935. He also attended Manitowoc Business College. He married Elaine Marshek July 3, 1941, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Vollendorf had been a cost accountant 40 years with the Manitowoc Company, retiring December, 1980. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was presently serving as elder of the church. For many years he was involved with the Youth Program of the church. He was a member and past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 706; a member of Manitowoc Golden Kiwanis Club and Manitowoc Shipbuilders Credit Union and currently was chairman of the board of directors. He was a past member of Manitowoc County board of supervisors for nine years, during which time he was the chairman of the finance committee. Recently he was appointed to the ethics committee of Manitowoc County board of supervisors and was serving on the Manitowoc County commission on aging.
Mr. Vollendorf is well remembered for his athletic ability and achievements in basketball during his high school years. In 1935 he won the Fox River Valley scoring title in basketball. After high school he continued playing basketball in Manitowoc City league, where he led the league in scoring several years.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Deanne Vollendorf and a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Peter Breivogel of Manitowoc; four grandchildren, John and Amy Vollendorf and John and Heidi Breivogel; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Jack and Wilma Vollendorf of Boulder, Colo., and Charlotte Vollendorf of Philadelphia, Pa.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Inez Marshek of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A brother, Henry Vollendorf, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Monday evening until 11 a.m. Tuesday, then at the church from noon until the time of service. Members of Fraternal Order of Eagles 706 will have a memorial service at 8 o'clock this evening.
