JOHN J. TUREK (d. 1967)
John Turek Sr., 75, of 521 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Monday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been
a patient a week.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and
Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Claude LeClair will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Turek was born June 25, 1892, at Ashland, Wis., son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Turek. He married Laura Oppermann
June 11, 1916, at Besemer, Mich. They resided at Ashland until
1923 when the couple came to Manitowoc where he was employed as
a bridge tender for the city, retiring in 1962. His wife preceded
him in death Sept. 12, 1962.
Surviving are two sons, Edward and John Jr., and four daughters,
Mrs. Eino (Dorothy) Hippula, Mrs. Betty Dilly, Mrs. Adolph
(Beverly) Ziarnik and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Scroggins, of
Manitowoc, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
