Leona R. Thiele, age 89, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc,
died on Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2008, at Shady Lane.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1919, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Alex and Ella
(Huebner) Duveneck. Leona was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class
of 1937. On Oct. 28, 1939, she married Donald E. Thiele at First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2004. Leona was
employed at JC Penney in Manitowoc for 20 years until her retirement. She was a
past member of the Ladies Aid at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Alfred and Carl Duveneck; and three
sisters: Frieda Duveneck; Irma Kaminski; and Wilhelmina Schleis.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at The Pfeffer
Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will
be the Revs. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso. Cremation will follow, and Leona
will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation
Care Center, Manitowoc, from 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, until the time of
service at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Shady Lane Nursing Care Center or the Alzheimer's Association.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family
