Mrs. Clarence (Edna A.) Tess, 80, of 3102 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, died Friday
morning, January 3, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services
will be 11 am Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Hayes will
officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Tess was born March 6, 1905 at Green Bay, daughter of the late Adolph and
Paulina Degner Gajafsky. Mrs. Tess was employed for 30 years at Holy Family
Medical Center as a Nurse's Aide, until her retirement in 1970. She married
Clarence Tess on May 16, 1929 at Green Bay. Mrs. Tess was a member of Wesley
United Methodist Church, past president of the Methodist Women of the Church,
charter member of the Wesley Guild and past president of the Guild, an office
which she held for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; a son and a daughter-in-law, David
and Swanhild Tess of Brookfield, Wisconsin; a sister, Mrs. Esther Tornow of
Buffalo, New York; two grandsons, Kevin and Gregory Tess, nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends also survived. She was preceded in death by three
brothers, Harry, Edward and Clarence Gajefsky and three sisters, Mrs. George
(Jessie) Olsen, Mrs. Matt (Laura) Rusch and Mrs. Wesley (Emma) Cartier.
Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 2 pm to
5 pm Sunday afternoon and Monday at the church from 9 am until the hour of
service. Memorials would be appreciated to Wesley United Methodist Church or
the American Cancer Society.
