Vernetta L. Stauss, age 71, of 3116 Silver Creek Road, town of Newton died
Saturday evening, September 16, 2000, at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2000, at
Faith Ev. Free Church, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Perkins. Burial
will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Vernetta was born February 16, 1929, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter
of the late Emil and Mary Liermann Hackmann. She attended schools in Manitowoc
and graduated with the class of 1946 from Lincoln High School. She married Elroy
Stauss on September 4, 1949, in the town of Newtonburg. Vernetta was employed at
the University of Wisconsin Center, Manitowoc. She was a member of Faith Ev. Free
Church, Western FraternL Life Association, charter member of International
Association of Administrative Professionals and Silver Creek Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband, Elroy Stauss, town of Newton; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Jerilyn and Terrance Knox, town of Newton, Janet and Dale Barnes,
town of Newton; six grandchildren, Tara Knox, Milwaukee, Sgt. Kelly Knox. Ft.
Lewis, Wash.; Julie Barnes; town of Newton, Pvt. Joshua Knox, Alabama, Lisa Barnes,
town of Newton, Jesse Knox, town of Newton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold
and Lucille Hackmann, Manitowoc, Kermit and Dorraine Hackmann, Manitowoc; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Besides her parents, she was
preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Ruben and Dora Hackmann; two
brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Harvey Stauss and Cathrine Stauss, Irene
Stauss, Lester Stauss.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Ev. Free Church,
Manitowoc. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 12 Noon until the time of
service at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Jens Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses of Aurora Health Care Center,
the VNA Hospice, Dr. Andre Yetter and staff of Manitowoc, Dr. Jonathan Treisman
and staff of St. Lukes Medical Center, Milwaukee. A special thank you to Edie
