Mrs. Charles J. Selk Sr., 96, of 1411S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Sunday
evening at the home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc, with the Rev. Gervase Zanotti officiating. Burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery.
The former Jennie Stolze was born Nov. 19, 1863, in Germany, daughter of the
late Henry and Johanna Schmidt Stolze. She came to the United States at the
age of six with her parents, who settled at Manitowoc. She attended local
schools and was married Aug. 11, 1887. After marriage the Selks lived for a
short time at Ashland, returning in 1898 to Manitowoc and residing in the old
Selk homestead.
Mrs. Selk, an honorary member of Women’s Benefit Assn, had received paid up
insurance policy from the organization when she attained 95. She was a sister
of the late Mayor Henry Stolze, Jr., of Manitowoc. Her husband died Sept. 20,
1936.
Surviving Mrs. Selk are a son, Charles J. Jr., of Long Beach, Calif.; two
daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Tabat and Miss Jennie Selk of Manitowoc; a sister,
Mrs. Anna Kolas of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren and 11 great grand-
children. A daughter, Mrs. Louis Sieker, preceded her in death in 1957.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
