have survived the illness had it not been weakened by the extreme
temperatures of Monday.

Little Daughter of Herman Schwab Succumbs from Exhaustion
Monday's extreme head hastened the death of the five year old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Schwab, Washington Street, exhaustion and diphtheria being
assigned as the causes of death on the death certificate of the physician. The
child had been ill from diphtheria for several days and with the heat of Monday,
the little one was completely prostrated and unable to cope with the disease,
death coming during the day. The child was 5 years and 3 months old and the
sympathy of many friends goes out to the bereaved family. The burial was held
today.
