Wm. Schuette, an eminent citizen of our town, where he has resided since 1871,
recently suffered a stroke. The patient is 67 years of age.

Wilhelm Schuette, a well-known resident of our city and proprietor of
Northwestern House here, died Friday evening. The deceased, who was born 67 years
ago in Bromstad, Schleswig-Holstein, came to America in 1855 and lived in Chicago
until the Great Fire in which he lost everything. He came to Manitowoc in 1872 and
has lived here ever since. At first he worked as a ship's carpenter and then later
as a construction contractor, until taking over Northwestern House near the
Northwestern Depot two years ago. He suffered a stroke 3 weeks ago which eventually
led to his death. Mr. Schuette is survived by his widow, 5 sons and 5 daughters.
His funeral was Monday.
