WILLIAM SCHRANK
William Schrank, 57, (photo) Newton farmer and school and town
official for years, died at his home Thursday afternoon. He had
been ill three years and the last two years was confined to his
bed.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m., from the home
and at 2 o'clock from the St. John's Lutheran church, Newtownburg,
the Rev. Edward Kionka officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
cemetery in this city.
Mr. Schrank was born in the town of Manitowoc in 1880. He married
Miss Martha Lindemann in Liberty, in 1906 and they took up their
home on a farm in Newton. He also engaged in carpenter work.
He served as a trustee of the St. John's congregation for nine years
and was also on the district school board for 10 years. He was
elected for five terms on the Newton town board.
Survivors are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Vetting, city,
Dolores, Newton; three sons, Carl, Elroy and Martine, all of Newton;
mother, Mrs. Ferdinand Kruger, Newton; brother, Gustave Schrank,
route 3, Manitowoc; half brother, Julius Schrank, city; three
grandchildren.
The body will be moved to the farm home in Newton Saturday noon
from the Pfeffer funeral home.
