MARTIN SCHRANK

Martin H. Schrank, age 88, of 1504 Hillcrest Dr., Manitowoc, died Friday,
June 5, 2009, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Martin was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Newton, son of the late William and Martha
Lindemann Schrank. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the
class of 1939 from Lincoln High School. Martin served in the U.S. Army in the
42nd Rainbow Division, Military Police from 1942 until his discharge as a
Private First Class in 1946.
On Sept. 20, 1952, Martin married the former Gloria Vetting at First Lutheran
Church in Manitowoc. Martin was employed as an auto parts manager for 50 years
at Fritsch Auto Sales, Senglaub Motors, Rambler Manitowoc Company, Lauson
Chevrolet and Larson Chevrolet where he retired in January of 1997. Martin was
a member of First Lutheran Church, Men's Breakfast Bible Study Group, past head
usher, American Legion Post No. 88, and the 42nd Rainbow Division Veterans. He
enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, traveling and bowling. Martin
will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and many friends.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters-in-law:
Carl (Priscilla) Schrank; Elroy (Marian) Schrank; LaVerne Vetting; and Elida
Wallace; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Elda (Harold) Vetting; and Ken Korte.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at First Lutheran
Church 521 North Eighth St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate.
Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives
and friends may call on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Reinbold and Pfeffer Family
Funeral Home 818 State St., Manitowoc from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will
continue on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11
a.m. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Rivers Bend Health and
Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care shown to Martin.
