Mrs. Charles Ruether, 73, former Manitowoc resident, died Saturday at her home
in Forestville, Door county, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First German Evangelical
Lutheran church, the Rev. L. H. Koeninger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
cemetery.
Mrs. Ruether, nee Elizabeth Klein, was born in this city in 1872, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Balthazer Klein. In 1893 she was married to Mr. Ruether in this
city and in 1898 they moved to a farm east of Maplewood, Door county.
Surviving are the husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Peterson, Mrs. Regina Leider
and Miss Ronita Ruether, all of Manitowoc; five grandchildren and four great grand-
children; five brothers, Henry Klein of aukesha, Walter Scherer of Algoma; John,
Arthur and Edwin Scherer of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Bruins of Manitowoc.
The body is at the Klein and Stangel, Inc., funeral home in Two Rivers, and will
be moved to the church here at 10 a.m. Wednesday to lie in state until the hour of
services.
