Edward J. Rott, age 73, of 934 N. 21st St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, July 26, 2006, at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1932, in the town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, son of the late Edward R. and Alvina (Mazanec) Rott. Ed was a graduate of Denmark High School, class of 1950. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. On April 23, 1955, he married the former Donna Georgenson at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, by the Rev. Dennis Bouche. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past April. Ed was a licensed cheese maker for the Rosecrans Cheese Factory. He was then employed with Pullman Company, formerly known as Imperial Eastman, for 35 years until his retirement. Ed was well known in the community for his small engine repair shop that he ran at home. He was a member of AMVETS Post 99 and a lifetime member of St. Francis of Asissi. Survivors include his wife: Donna Rott; a son: Rick Rott and special friend, Gloria Shiraef; two daughters and sons-in-law: Wendy and Michael Larson, Lori and Mike Kirby, all of Manitowoc; four granddaughters: Rachael Vreeke and fiance, Tom Woznick; Heather (Jason) Noworatzky; Brooke Hartman; and Mallory Kirby; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Gerald and Carol Georgenson, Manitowoc; Martin and Ann Georgenson, Manitowoc; Whalton and Linda Georgenson, Sturgeon Bay; and Lila Foytik, Sturgeon Bay. Also surviving is a special neighbor and family friend, Lynn Comstock, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by two infant sisters; a brother-in-law: James Foytik; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Dolores and Whalton Georgenson; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Cigler. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2006. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by Deacon Paul Kieffer. Friends may also call Saturday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post 99. The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
