Edwin (Abner) R. Roepke, age 84, 2410 Western Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday
evening, Oct. 31, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001 at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce Bitter will officiate.
Military services will be conducted by the American Legin Post 388 and burial
will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Edwin was born Oct. 1, 1917, in the town of Newton, son of the late Edwin D. and
Erna Kieselhorst Roepke. Edwin attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with
the class of 1934 from Lincoln High School. He served in the United States Army
as a Staff Sergeant from 1941 until his discharge in 1945. Edwin worked at the
National Tinsel Factory from 1936 until 1941. He later worked for Fischl’s Dairy
from 1946 to 1969. In 1970, he worked for Imperial Eastman until his retirement
in 1979. Edwin was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and
American Legion Post #88.
Survivors include one brother and two sisters-in-law; John C. and Malene Roepke,
Manitowoc, Arlene Roepke, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: Leonard Schuh, Manitowoc;
five nieces, special niece, Darlene L. Roepke, Manitowoc, Marilyn Wazny, Manitowoc,
Dawn Madsen, Manitowoc, Vicki (Curt) Rissling, Manitowoc, Susan Dorsett, Manitowoc;
four nephews, Wayne Roepke, Manitowoc, Ronald Roepke, Manitowoc, Casey (Toni)
Czekala, Two Rivers, Steven (Darlene) Roepke, Manitowoc. One special grandnephew,
Justin Tegelman, other grandnieces and grand-nephews also survive. Besides his
parents, Edwin was preceded in death by five sisters: Dorothy Czekala, Laurine
Roepke, Marguerit Herzog, Deloris Schuh, Erna H. Roepke; one brother, Herman
Roepke.
