DONALD J. RODNEY

Donald J. Rodney, 53, of 1610 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died Wednesday,
September 24, 1986 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:30 am
Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Pastors Lyle
Luchterhand and Bruce McKenney will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be accorded by American
Legion Drews Bleser Post 88 of Manitowoc.
Mr. Rodney was born May 24, 1922 at Manitowoc, son of Mamie Staudinger Rodney
and the late Elmer Rodney. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the
Class of 1952. Mr. Rodney was a Veteran serving in the United States Army in
the Korean Conflict from Mary 17, 1983 to January 2, 1955. He married Donna L.
Hembel Dec. 8 1956 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay, Wis. Mr.
Rodney was employed by Imperial Eastman in Manitowoc, retiring due to illness
in 1966. He was a very active musician playing the Saxophone and Clarinet. Mr.
Rodney was an honorary member of the Manitowoc Musicians Association 195. He
was former director of The Silk Umbrella Boys Orchestra and was a former member
of American Legion Band. Mr. Rodney was a former member of Manitowoc Marine
Band. He was presently a member of Orville Krepline Orchestra. The Rodney's
were also former foster parents.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; a son, David Rodney at home; a daughter,
DeNean Marie Rodney of Madison; his mother, Mrs. Mamie Staudinger of New
Holstein; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Violet and Harold Gulikson of New
Holstein and Mrs. Janet Roman of Milwaukee and his mother-in-law and father-
in-law, Mamie and Lester Hembel of Sturgeon Bay; seven sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Elean and Gerald Weckler, Darold and Audrey Hembel, Darlene
and Tim Rohr and Lester and Betty Hembel all of Brussels, Joanne and Jerry
Kimber of Sturgeon Bay, Carol and Edmund Blise of Milwaukee and Sandra and
Richard Raynier of Two Rivers, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 pm to 9 pm Friday and
at the church from 9 am on Saturday until the time of services.
