Dr. Cyril J. Radl, 84, of 1425 N. 9th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, October 12,
1991 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be
held 9:30 am Tuesday, October 15 at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and at 10 am
at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Gerald J. Foley will officiate
at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Born May 19, 1907 in Sleepy Eye, Minn., son of the late Michael and Mary Radl.
After attending St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye, Minn., he studied and
graduated from the School of Medicine of Marquette University. He interned at
Milwaukee County Hospital prior to becoming a General Practitioner at Wisconsin
Dells for seven years. Dr. Radl then attended and graduated from the University
of Pennsylvania's School of Ophthalmology, completing his residency at the Episcopal
Eye-Ear-Nose-Throat Hospital in Washington, D.C.
During World War II he served in the United States Navy for four years as a Flight
Surgeon being honorably discharged with the Rank of Lt. Commander. Dr. Radl
practiced in Manitowoc until his retirement in 1974. He had been an active member
of Local, State and National Medical Societies and was recognized by Marquette
University for his 50 years of contributions to the Medical Profession.
He married the former Ruth Armstrong, November 10, 1934 at St. Jude's Catholic Church
in Wauwatosa, Wis. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Radl of Manitowoc; three daughters
and two sons-in-law, Ann Radl of Glastonbury, Conn., Joan and James von Germeten of
Boston, Mass., Susan and Atty. Tom Rusboldt of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Ann,
Lisa and Nicole von Germeten; Teddy, Bridget and Nick Rusboldt and Matthew Radl and
three sisters, Irene Klick, Marcella Juracek and Marie Kuhlmann. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Dr. Robert Radl.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 5 pm to 7 pm this Monday evening,
where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm by Deacon Ken Nelesen. Memorials may be
made to Roncalli High School, Holy Family Memorial Medical Center or the donors' choice.
