DELORES POLIFKA

Delores A. Polifka, age 77, of 3402 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, entered into her eternal light on Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2008, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1930, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Louis and Frieda Krueger. Her home was in Grimms where she attended grade school and later on attended Reedsville schools. On Aug. 9, 1952, she married Matthew Polifka in Manitowoc. She and her husband Matthew farmed for many years at their home in Clarks Mills. Delores was also a certified nurse assistant at the Manitowoc County Healthcare Center for many years. Later, she decided to stay home to raise her family.

She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law: Helen and Louis Mitcheltree, Susan Felber, and Lori Polifka; three sons and one daughter-in-law: Thomas and James Polifka, Mike and Fae Polifka, all reside in Manitowoc; Delores is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; She has many sisters and brothers, also nieces and nephews who survive; and her very special friends, Carol Meyer, Eva Walker and Bill Nordman and Rory Lorentz, Sheryl Polifka and Aaron Johnston. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Matthew, her daughter Linda Johnston and five brothers.

Private family services will be held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc.

Our family would like to thank all the staff at Hospice and Aurora Medical Center including Dr. Laura Bently for all the care they gave mom. They helped mom through a long, tough battle with cancer.

The last special thank you is to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the joy of her life, and all the special times they were together made her last days with us very special. The warm smiles from her face meant the world. Also to my goddaughter, Amanda, for spending the time with me to take care of her grandmother meant peace in my heart and comfort. Grandma will always remember that special time.
