Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 702 State St., Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Dave Hoffman with burial of his cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery. Military gragve side rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post #99.
Roy was born April 12, 1924 at Denmark, son of the late Charles and Cecile Z. Couvillion Peterson. He was educated at Denmark and married Gladys M. Roberts on Sept. 6, 1947 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. They celebrated 54 years together.
He was employed at Rahr's Furniture for 40 years and then at Shimek's Furniture until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a Tech 5 in the Western Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Roy enjoyed his family, bowling, horseshoes and followed the Packers and Brewers.
Survivors include his wife: Gladys, Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law: Dean and Joy Peterson, Green Bay; a daughter: Carol Peterson, Manitowoc; grandchildren: Kelly Peterson, Manitowoc; Rachael, Andrew and Erin Peterson, Green Bay; a sister: Mabel Peterson, Manitowoc; sisters-in-law: Ruth Peterson, Two Rivers; Grace Peterson, Oxford, Pa.; Hazel Peterson, Paxton, Ill.; Shirley (Keith) Peterson, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law: Larry Molitor, Kenosha; and Tony (Marge) Roberts, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by five brothers: Edward, Walter, John, Harvey and Charles Peterson; four sisters: Louella Pecnick, Pearl Peterson, Marion Peterson and Bette Molitor.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church until the time of service at 11 a.m.Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
