Alma A. Pelnar, age 99, a resident of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, June 8, 1993, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Arno Wolfgramm and Rev. Bruce Bitter with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born April 11, 1894, in Swanville, Minn., daughter of the late Albert and Caroline Hansmen Mielke. She was married to Benjamin Coen. He preceded her in death May, 1934. She then married Matt Pelnar in 1951 at Durand, Wis. He preceded her in death June 10, 1961. She was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide of the Church. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 659, Aide Association for Lutherans, and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Harrison and Lucille Coen, Manitowoc, Kenneth and Gladys Coen, Charlevoix, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Gage, Oceanside, Calif.; one step-sister, Mrs. Alice Hayes, Paradise, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lucille Coen, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Vernon, four sisters and one brother. Friends may call at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
