Bernice R. Meyer, 85, 2031 Kellner St., Manitowoc, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010,
at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Bernice was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Manitowoc. She was daughter of the late
Stanley and Dorothea Gaestel Zlatohlavek. She attended schools in Manitowoc and
graduated from Lincoln High School. Bernice married Hubert C. Meyer on Oct. 3,
1944, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in
1993. Bernice worked for many years in Manitowoc in retail sales, and also as a
volunteer at Repeat Performance Resale. She was a member of First German Evangel-
ical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie (Robert) Nack, Manitowoc,
Debra (James) Reis, Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Ross (Laura) Jasmer, Michelle
(Gary) Skubal, Nathan (Heidi) Reis, Matthew (Katrina) Reis; five great-grand-
children, (private); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hubert; two brothers and one
sister-in-law, Ellsworth (Eleanor) Zlatohlavek, and Alvin Zlatohlavek; one sister-
in-law and brother-in-law, Caroline (Donald) Peterik; father-in-law and mother-in-
law, Otto (Caroline) Meyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Benjamin P.
Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time
of services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
The Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family
with funeral arrangements.
