Henry Mayer, 60, died last night at his farm home near Cato following
a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon after 2 o’clock from
the First Reformed Church in Manitowoc. Burial will be made in the
Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Mayer was born Dec. 18, 1879, in Francis Creek. He was married in
1903 to Wilhelmina Friedenberger and the couple operated the Silver
Creek Dairy for seven years. In 1913, they took over the farm on which
Mr. Mayer died. He was a trustee of the Bethany Reformed church at branch
for a number of years.
Survivors besides the widow include four children, Arthur, Norman and
Wilma at home, and Reuben, who is stationed at Hamilton Field, California,
with the Army Air Corps; seven sisters, Mrs. Joseph Ritsch, Mrs. George
Nichols, Mrs. Emil Pautz, and Miss Johanna Meyer, all of Manitowoc; Mrs.
Charles Freidenberger of Whitelaw; and Mrs. Joseph Popp and Mrs. Harry
Zastrow, all of Newton.
The body may be viewed at the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home
from this evening to Wednesday at 10 a.m. when it will be removed to the
church where it may be viewed until 2 o’clock, the time of the services.
