Mr. Benjamin J. Lodl, 76, of 1303 Ruby Lane, Manitowoc, died Wednesday
morning, August 14, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and
Schlei Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald J. Foley and
burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born April 7, 1915, in the township of Gibson, Manitowoc County,
son of the late Frank and Julia Wanek Lodl. He grew up in the township
of Gibson, attending Riverview School at Fisherville, Wis. He worked at
the Whitehouse Milk Company, Manitowoc, for 38 years, retiring in 1978.
After his retirement he worked part-time for Zabel Monuments. He also
enjoyed working in his yard during his retirement. He married Josephine
Krajnek September 29, 1937. She preceded him in death February 12, 1946.
He then married Mary Ann Koeppel June 12, 1947. He was a member of Holy
Innocents Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; a step daughter, Jean and her
husband, William Toedter of Iron Mountain, Mich.; a daughter, Janice
Zich of Manitowoc; a step son, Kenneth and his wife, Diane Basken, of
Manitowoc, Wis.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Kathleen Lodl of
Manitowoc; a daughter, Nancy Lodl of Chicago, Ill.; a son and
daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathy Lodl of Francis Creek; a daughter and
son-in-law, Debra and Scott Siehr of Manitowoc; a daughter and
son-in-law, Kay Lynn and Todd Wallander of Whitelaw, Wis.; a son, Ben
Lodl Jr. of Manitowoc; a son-in-law and his wife, Eugene and Mary Savage
of Reedsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Ret. Col. E.J. and Dolly
Lodell (sic) of San Antonio, Texas; 23 grandchildren 4 great
grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also
survive. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Lois Savage and an
infant daughter, Patricia.
Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home
State Street Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Friday. There will be a parish prayer
service at 7:30 p.m. said by Deacon Ken Nelesen.
