MARY F. LODES

Mary F. Lodes, age 94, formerly of 713 S. 24th St., Manitowoc,
died Friday morning, Jan. 26, 2007, at North Ridge Medical &
Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Mary was born Dec. 7, 1912, in Kloten, Calumet County, daughter
of the late Frank and Anna (Mainz) Grenzer. On Nov. 14, 1933,
she married Hugo A. Lodes at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in
Kloten. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1980. Mary worked
as a dietary aide at Holy Family Hospital in the second floor
kitchen under the direction of Sister Bertha. She received
several merit awards during her many years of service. After her
retirement, Mary volunteered as chief cook and organizer for
funeral dinners at St. Paul Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed reading,
walking, quilting at the Manitowoc Senior Center, word search and
crossword puzzles, sheepshead, and playing games on the computer
which she learned to master at age 87.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Irene and Eugene Kotarek,
Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Jan Lodes, Racine;
five grandchildren: Lynn (Steve) Lindemann, Manitowoc; Kari (David)
Tanaka, Las Vegas, Nev.; Randall Kotarek, South Bend, Ind.; Kim (Eric)
Ellingham, Burlington; Christopher Lodes and special friend: Jessica,
Racine; five great-grandchildren: Mandy and Serena Lindemann,
Manitowoc; Matthew Tanaka, Las Vegas, Nev.; Andrew Ellingham,
Burlington; and Morgan Lodes, Racine; and a sister-in-law: Sally
Grenzer, Chilton. Cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends also survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Hugo; an infant daughter:
Ruth Ann; four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Gregor and Hattie
Grenzer, John and Ruth Grenzer, Henry Grenzer, and Ambrose Grenzer;
three sisters and brothers-in-law: Cecelia and George Diedrich;
Hattie and Joe Kampher; Veronica and Ben Brickheimer; and a grandson:
Richard Kotarek.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007,
at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass
of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi
on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, until the
time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the
staff at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, for their
compassion and loving care. We are all very grateful for the concern
and outstanding care she was treated with during the short time she
was there.
