Dorothy V. Leiker, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Dorothy was born July 25, 1917 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Carl and Tillie Schlegelmilch Oquist.
She grew up and was educated in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1935. She was employed at Manitowoc Engineering Co. for many years until she retired.
On Sept. 20, 1938 she married John Martin Leiker Sr. in Manitowoc. John preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law: James Leiker, Cato; Richard Leiker, Manitowoc; and John (Tammy) Leiker, Manitowoc; three granddaughters: Michelle Leiker, Arlington Heights, Ill.; Melissa (Steve) Hecker, Fort Sill, Okla.; Angela Leiker, Manitowoc; three great-grandchildren: Gage Leiker, Xandy Leiker and Blaze Hecker, all Fort Sill, Okla.; and a sister-in-law: Olive Leiker, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband: John, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law: Cleeland and Marie Leiker; and by a brother and sister-in-law: Roy and Lucille Oquist.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 702 State St., Manitowoc. The Rev. David Hoffman will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc, and on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to the time of service at 11 a.m. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday led by Deacon Rich Bahnaman. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is serving the family.
