ORLIS J. LARSON, SR.
Orlis J. Larson Sr., age 73, former Melnik area resident,
died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2007, at the Manitowoc
Health Care Center, where he has resided for the past
several years.
He was born April 23, 1933 in Francis Creek, to the late
Mark and Margaret Wotruba Larson and has been a lifelong
area resident. Orlis served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to
1957, and after his discharge, served in the Army reserves
for five years four months and 28 days. He married the
former Dolores "Gramma D" Wachowski on Dec. 3, 1966. She
preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 1996. Orlis was employed
as a truck driver for the Kocian Trucking Company for many
years.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Orlis and
Robin Larson Jr., of Melnik, and their children: Alex and
Cody; three daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and Jimbo Schleis,
of Manitowoc; Candi and Pete Ney, of Francis Creek, and their
children: Craig, Trevan, and Nerissa; Arlet and Kevin "Rooty"
Rutherford of Manitowoc, and their daughter: Tabitha. He is
further survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law:
Clarence and Kathie Larson, of Mishicot; Tom Larson, of
Manitowoc; one sister: Margaret Larson, of Manitowoc; and
by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded
in death by an infant brother; a grandson: James Larson; his
father-in-law and mother-in-law: Theodore and Josephine
Wachowski; and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday,
Jan. 30, 2007, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S.
State St., Mishicot.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the
funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Paider officiating, with
burial of his cremated remains to follow in the Evergreen
Cemetery in Manitowoc.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
