Arno C. Jonas, age 88, passed away December 9, 1999, in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be held in Florida, with the burial of his cremains at
Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
He was born March 18, 1911, in the town of Cato, Manitowoc County, to the late
Henry E. and Anna (Commings) Jonas. He graduated from Lincoln High School with
the class of 1929. After graduation he worked as a draftsman at Manitowoc
Shipbuilding for several years, and then over the next many years worked at
shipyards in Boston, Savannah, New Orleans, San Diego, and Seattle. After his
retirement in 1958, he settled in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rosalind Engelbrecht, Hermina
and De Lyle Klotz, all of Manitowoc; one niece Alice (Francis W.) Mielcarek, Madison;
one nephew, John (Linda) Engelbrecht, Ft. Myers, Fla.; several grandnieces,
grandnephew, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his
parents; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Milda and William Rhode and Norman
Engelbrecht; one nephew, Gordon Klotz.
