H. HALVORSON’S (sic) SUDDEN DEATH OCCURS TODAY
Former Soo Line Employee Is Stricken
Halver Halverson (sic), life time resident of the city, active for years in the
Knights of Pythias order and as a member of the First Lutheran church, died
suddenly at the family home, 865 North Fifteenth street at 8 o’clock this morning
as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mr. Halverson was born in Manitowoc January 25, 1854 and had always made his home
in the city. For forty-four years he acted in various capacities with the Soo Line
railroad and on March 1 was retired on pension, serving at the time as chief clerk
and cashier. In addition, he was an active member of the Knights of Pythias, having
held practically all of the offices in the organization of which he was a Charter.
Married in 1876
On December 3, 1876 he was married to Miss Catherine Christensen who with six
children survive him. They are Herbert at Denmark, Mrs. A. O. Anderson of Tampa,
Florida, Miss Amie C. Halverson, a nurse at Madison and Miss Grace, George and Elmer
Halverson, all of Manitowoc. Thirteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon from the First Lutheran Church
of which Mr. Halverson was a deacon, having recently retired as treasurer of the
church which office he held for many years. Rev. D. G. Ristad will be in charge of
the service and burial will be made at Evergreen Cemetery .
